We Stay in Contact!
Stiftsschule Engelberg and the Monastery of Engelberg strive to keep in contact with former students. Many of them remain in close contact with Stiftsschule Engelberg long after graduation. The Monastery of Engelberg invites its formers students to a Matura reunion 10, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 50, 55, and 60 years after their graduation.
The magazine “Titlisgrüsse”, which is published twice a year by the Benedictine Monastery of Engelberg and the Stiftsschule Engelberg, also maintains and deepens contact with alumni and friends of the monastery and school. Subscriptions can be arranged through our school office.
Testimonials

“My parents passed on their love of nature and the mountains to me. Thanks to the education I received from the monks at Stiftsschule Engelberg, I was able to turn this love into my profession.”

“I wouldn't be where I am today without the Stiftsschule. Musical life at boarding school had a significant influence on me. I owe the most to Fr. Norbert, my piano and organ teacher, who sensitively prepared me for life as a musician.”

“But what the Stiftsschule Engelberg, especially the boarding school, gave me was a calm and peaceful environment in which to develop as a young person and follow my own path. My relationship with my family improved significantly with the distance, and I was able to concentrate fully on school, sport and music in a positive environment.”

“I have fond memories of my extracurricular activities in sports and music. Music school director Father Roman, may he rest in peace, had a particularly strong influence on me. I owe my great passion for music to him.”

“I remember many of the monks as distinctive, independent personalities who shaped my world view beyond the school. The annual theatre play was one of the highlights of boarding school life.”

“As students and young adults, we were unfailingly taken seriously and treated with genuine respect, encouraged to ask questions, and given thoughtful, well-founded answers – answers which, however, remained open enough to invite further reflection. I was impressed by the cosmopolitan spirit at Stiftsschule Engelberg, which certainly contributed to my ultimate interest in diplomacy.”

“The years in Engelberg were very formative for me. Especially the very high-quality humanistic and religiously inspired education”

“In addition to my humanistic education, my interest in art and culture was greatly awakened at boarding school. I was able to engage in intensive sporting activities in the mountains. Later, my daughter enjoyed attending the Stiftsschule.”

“With the Stiftsschule Engelberg, Engelberg offers an exceptional educational opportunity. This is a key factor in our decision to live in Engelberg as a family.”

“The opportunity to pursue an education at the Gymnasium as a competitive athlete. And at an abbey school, no less! The openness of all the teachers to support me, even if some of them couldn't quite understand it. They were still open to accompanying me on a different path, one that was unusual for them.”

“As an external student, I belonged to a minority at the Stiftsschule Engelberg. This spurred me on even more to measure myself against my colleagues from Zurich, French-speaking Switzerland and Germany. It was a formative and forward-looking time.”
The Alumni Network
Alumni of Stiftsschule Engelberg who would like to network more closely, even across year groups, can do so in the Engelberg Alumni Facebook group.
At the beginning of June there will also be an alumni dinner at the Hotel Storchen in Zurich. This is announced on the social media group.
Alumni Stiftsschule Engelberg
The Alumni Stiftsschule Engelberg (formerly the Alt-Engelberger-Verein) is a community of former students who actively support the concerns of current and former students of Stiftsschule Engelberg and the school itself and who want to make a difference together.
The association has close links with the monastery and the school. It promotes contact between the different generations of alumni, friends of the monastery and the school as well as the parents of the students.
The aim is to actively support the Stiftsschule Engelberg in the face of a rapidly changing environment.
