“Becoming yourself”

Reflection days for the two classes of the lower form of the gymnasium

Once a year, the two lower form classes meet for reflection days. This means a special programme without school lessons on two consecutive days. This year, the young people focused on the topic of “becoming oneself”. After a guided silent meditation and an input from Mirjam von Reding on the four temperaments, the aim was to get to know themselves better using a test template. Which of the four temperaments best describes my personality? Surprisingly, the evaluation of the two classes showed relatively different results.

What can I use as a guide if I want to work on myself? Abbot Christian explained the various virtues and also took the classes to see the monastery’s impressive Virtues Room (Tugendenzimmer).

After watching the impressive film Simon Birch and discussing it afterwards, we celebrated a service together in the student chapel. Based on the text Mein Fingerabdruck (My Fingerprint) by Max Feigenwinter, we actually left our own fingerprints on a sheet of paper, which now hangs in the classroom.
