Experience robotics up close!

In the first week of September, Engelberg was the venue for the first Swiss CLOCK Summit organized by the National Centre of Competence in Research (NCCR) Automation. The NCCR is an interdisciplinary research initiative of various Swiss universities and universities of applied sciences with the aim of strengthening Switzerland as a leading location in the fields of automation, control engineering and automation technologies.

A particular concern of the researchers is to arouse the interest of children and young people in these topics. On Monday afternoon, the 1st UG and class teacher Patricia Kruse were given the opportunity to immerse themselves in the fascinating world of robotics.

Among the exhibits on site were an animal-like robot, self-driving cars that race and skillfully perform overtaking maneuvers, and soccer-playing robots – entire teams of seven robots that even compete against other research groups.

The students spent an informative and exciting afternoon.
