Felix Rettig
Felix Rettig has been part of the boarding school team at Stiftsschule Engelberg since August. With a great deal of commitment, his motivating manner and a varied sports program, he inspires the young people.
A few words about your background (studies, previous schools):
I studied sports science because I have always been passionate about exercise, training and working with young people. Even during my studies, I realized how exciting the combination of theory and practice is, especially when it comes to supporting children and young people in sports. After working in various positions in the field of sports education, I finally ended up at school, an environment that I really enjoyed from the very beginning.
What was the deciding factor in your career choice? Were there any formative experiences in your school days? What influence did they have on your own life as a teacher?
My own school days were particularly influential in my career choice: I was lucky enough to experience teachers who were able to inspire enthusiasm and who made you feel that you were in good hands. In physical education in particular, I experienced how motivating it is when someone believes in you and combines fun and performance. It is precisely this feeling that I would like to pass on today: that exercise is fun, that every step forward counts and that you can achieve an incredible amount together.
Why the Stiftsschule? What do you particularly like?
I was immediately impressed by the open, appreciative atmosphere at the Stiftsschule. You can tell that there is a real team spirit here and that there is room for your own ideas. I particularly like how committed the staff are and how much the focus is on the personal development of the students.
What do you do to clear your head, what is your balance to everyday school life?
The best way to clear my head is through sport. And now in winter, I really use every free minute to get out on my skis. For me, there’s hardly anything better to recharge my batteries and have fun at the same time.
Felix Rettig, thank you very much!
