Unusual paths

At the beginning of October, our alumnus Jan (Matura 2024) was ceremoniously sworn into the Pontifical Swiss Guard. After completing recruit school, he decided to serve in the Vatican for at least 26 months – an extraordinary path that combines discipline, a sense of duty and deep faith.

In addition to his family, former classmates were also present at the ceremony to accompany Jan on this important step and show him their support. With the oath, every guardsman undertakes to serve “faithfully, honestly and honorably” and to protect the Pope and the Apostolic See.

Jan is thus joining a tradition that goes back over 500 years: The Swiss Guard is considered the oldest standing army in the world and still stands for loyalty, precision and reliability today. The school community warmly congratulates Jan on this special step and wishes him all the best, strength and God’s blessing for his time in the Vatican.
